As a wedding photographer, I get tons of really great questions from brides & fellow photographers. In this Q&A series called ‘Hey Rahel!’ I’m attempting to answer anything & everything and share helpful information from my experience! Feel free to send your questions through the contact form ♥
Q: Hey Rahel! We love that you’re always on top of everything and after our engagement photos we’re BEYOND excited to have you capture our wedding too!! And because I’m totally Type A when it comes to planning, I was curious, how will you prepare for my wedding day? Thanks! C.K.
A: Hey there Gorgeous!! You know what, for me it’s always been super important that I can be on top of all things and spoil my couples rotten – hence my limited number of weddings I take on each year. So thanks, it means a lot that you noticed!
To make sure I’m on top of all things wedding details, I will send out the Wedding Questionnaire 5-6 weeks prior your wedding day to collect all your details. In this questionnaire we’ll talk about obvious things like emergency phone numbers, exact addresses of all locations and group shots you would like to have. In addition we also talk more in detail about your honeymoon and when you return (so I know when to send out your wedding box!!!), how many bridal party members you have, as well as vendor information for your florist, planner, etc. – just in case your wedding is being featured on the blog!
After you’ve answered the questionnaire, I start to prep your planner. Yes, I make a planner for each and every couple, containing information I need for a wedding day, including addresses, phone numbers, group shot lists, timeline and other juicy details! As you can see, I’m a little Type A myself when it comes to wedding prep! My goal is to give you a fabulous day, and I strongly believe that having good ‘bones’ is the key element to a relaxed day!
Most usually I’ll be back with a few more follow-up questions, before I finalize the planner. If I see any ‘problem zones’ in your timeline – for example, not enough time during Cocktail Hour – I will give you suggestions how we can avoid such issues.
Finally, the day before your wedding, I’ll prep! I’ll clean all of my gear, get memory cards & batteries checked and ready to go, lay out our outfits and print the planner. Oh, and fill in Adrian about anything and everything, so he’s perfectly in the loop as well!
XO, Rahel ♥
